i could not be happier right now. as of noon today barrack obama is the president of the united states. he is our president!

a lot of celebration was happening around campus today. i stayed home because ive been sick but i celebrated via internet with shauny d. we were so excited!

ive been watching all the coverage today and i can not help smiling. president obama has inspired so many throughout his campaign and its a really good feeling to see his supporters continue even after he won the election.

one of my favorite parts of today was when beyonce sang for the president and first lady's first dance. afterwards she told robyn from good morning america that president obama made her want to be smarter and to be more involved. i couldnt agree more. being apart of my community and making a bigger effort to help others is something i want to do and am extremely excited to see others my age already doing. and i know that president obama and the celebrities and big names that support him have had a huge hand in opening the eyes of my generation to become more active in our world.

when president obama spoke at the youth ball he talked about how parents would come up to him saying that it was the involvement of their kids in the election and his campaign that made them vote for obama, that made them really stand up and start paying attention to what the candidates were saying. i loved that he acknowledged our generation in such a huge way and thanked us.

his inaugural speech today was powerful and gave me chills throughout. he didnt shy away from any of the problems our country is facing at the moment, in fact he laid them out in perfect sight for everyone to see and fear. honestly, it does scare me. but i believe having obama as our president is our first step in the right direction and into becoming a country that not only we will love and support but also that our neighbors around the world will love and support as well.

"What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world"

this was the first election i really payed attention to. and i know that obama's name took somewhat of a celebrital status but i truly believe in the words he has spoken and the promises he is making our country.
